DHH, We're so back

And it’s been a good reminder to myself that talking too much about politics, on X or elsewhere, is indeed a limiting prospective. So I’ve gladly turned it down or taken it private. Like the olden days, before we were fooled into thinking that sharing every thought about every hot-button political issue in every social circle was going to advance us all somehow. It wasn’t, it didn’t, and it won’t.

I'll bet you a million zillion dollars that this is 100% a response to internal (and probably external) pressures to shut the fuck up about politics. At least he got his usual defense of Musk and a jab at "certain groups of people" in there. DHH is kind of brilliant, but I've lost my respect for him has a human.

I registered "jackbaty.com" in 1999. It was the home of my blog for years, until the blog moved to baty.net. I let the domain languish until recently when I wanted to play with the omg.lol page thing. That worked fine, and OMG.lol is great, but I've decided that my personal landing page should be on my own server, under my control.

So I started over this morning. https://jackbaty.com/ is now a static HTML page running on my new OpenBSD server at Vultr.

The actual page is completely plain and boring for now, but it's the simplest thing that could possibly work and I think that makes it beautiful.

As tempting as it is to build the page using hand-edited HTML, I'm using an Org-mode file and exporting that to HTML. Close enough!
